Who is the Autism InfoGroup?
The Autism InforGroup was originally founded in Minnesota in 2005. The Founder, Kim Stanley, is the parent of two (2) children with autism. Having raised her children by herself she found that parents did not have supports to help the children, or themselves, or education to help their children succeed. That is when she started the Autism InfoGroup. She has been an advocate for numerous families with IEP and other school issues, planned and facilitated monthly informational meetings, organized a seminar with Keri Bowers, a prominent figure in the autism community “ Normal People Scare Me”, published author in national autism magazines, police journal, MedicAlert magazine among other local publications.
She has produced and directed a video for a school district on a parents perspective and sat on many committees involving special education. Kim is also known for her advocacy with organizations for special needs and testifying in front of the legislature. Her current experience has lead her to focus on the individuals that are in the transition stage and helping parents with what comes next. She is working with other local organizations to collaborate resources and direct families to the best source to help them with their specific needs.
